Coffee Maker – Fill up the pot with a 50/50 water and white vinegar mix.  Place an empty filter in the basket, pour the water/vinegar mix into the reservoir, and start the brew cycle like normal.  Once the cycle has finished, pour out the water and vinegar and discard the filter.  Put in a new filter, fill the reservoir with regular water, and start the brew cycle again.  Once it has finished, pour out the water and you are finished!  Total active cleaning time – 1-2 minutes

Coffee Pot – Put 2 cups of ice into the empty pot, pour in 2 Tbs of salt, and swirl in a circular motion.  The salt and ice will clean off the coffee deposits in the pot.  Once all deposits are gone, dump out ice and salt and rinse well.  Total active cleaning time – 1 minute

Microwave – Fill a microwave safe cup with water and heat on high for 5 minutes. The steam from the water boiling with loosen up all the gunk, although if you’ve been cooking things like bacon you may need so spray a little vinegar inside to cut the grease.  Once the 5 minutes is up, carefully remove the cup of water and turntable (if you have one) from inside the microwave.  Place the turntable flat in the bottom of your sink and pour the cup of hot water over it.  Leave it there while you wipe down the microwave, the hot water will soften up everything.  Once you are finished with the inside, rinse off the turntable. Total active cleaning time – 2-3 minutes

Stove – Sprinkle the top with baking soda and the wipe down with a damp dish rag.  You many need to scrub with the baking soda in a circular motion on really yucky spots.  If you are cleaning a ceramic cook top, you can also scrape off stubborn crusties with a razor. Total active cleaning time – 2-5 minutes

Oven – Sweep the crumbs out the bottom of the oven, then spray the whole inside with white vinegar.  Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil and then place it on the rack inside the oven.  Close the door and leave the pot in the oven for 3o minutes.  After that time is up, remove the pot and rack and wipe down the inside of the oven with a wet dish rag.  Total active cleaning time – 5-10 minutes

Everyone has household tasks that they dislike doing, and one of mine is cleaning the kitchen.  It’s probably because I do most of the cooking three times a day (which I love, don’t get me wrong) so the last thing I want to do is spend another chunk of my day in there cleaning.  These simple tasks can be done in just a few minutes, and require little to no effort.  Why not just pick one to do each Monday morning while you are enjoying that first glorious cup of coffee?
